A group of local car enthusiasts is putting their petrol headed passion to good use by organising a car show and family fun day in aid of Nevill Hall Children’s Centre Umbrella Appeal Charity.
The event, Motors @ Mamhilad sponsored by Johnsey Estates, is on Sunday, July 29, at Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool, with public access available between 10am and 2pm.
Organisers expect some 200 cars from all genres to be represented including vintage and classics, rally and race and more modern modified, sports and super cars.
In addition to the myriad of cars on show there will be bouncy castles, face painting and games for the family to enjoy. Nevill Hall Sound radio station are providing music and an outside broadcast of the event.
The Nevill Hall Children’s Centre Umbrella Appeal raise funds to provide enhanced services for the families and children who use the centre. Workshops, children’s parties and warm water swimming sessions are but a few of the activities provided to enable children with additional needs to enjoy the same activities as their peers.
Matt Gould, Chairman of the Umbrella Appeal, said: “My daughter, Charlotte, has been attending the centre since she was nine months old, so it’s a place close to our hearts. Charlotte, who is now 11 years old and who attends Victoria Primary, is a total ‘petrol head’”
Sports car enthusiast and owner Matt, who lives in Pontypool, said: “Charlotte, who is soon to start at Abersychan Comprehensive School, loves cars and is a regular at local car meets. She was delighted when our friends Matt Reynolds, James Oversteer, of Oversteer Photography and Chris Wiltshire and Paige Murray of Wallboss UK, decided to put on this event.”
Chartered surveyor Matt, a lifelong Ferrari fan, said: “We have over 25 different marques registered already, covering more than 80 years of motoring history. Aston Martin, Porsche, Jaguar and TVR are all present along with modern favourites like the mighty Nissan GTR.”
Charlotte along with other children from Nevill Hall Children’s Centre will officially open the Motors @Mamhilad event.
